<1> Creating of a Century of ‘Agriculture’ and ‘Symbiosis’
From ‘Competition’ to ‘Symbiosis’
Driven by advancement in information and communication technologies as well as of trans-national boundary activities of business firms, the economy of the 21st century is expected to make further steps of globalization. Such globalization of the economy will not only more clearly demarcate who the winners and loser are, but also threaten to destroy the environment and lead to rise of social anxiety.
JA Group believes that the 21st century should be envisaged not in the framework of ‘competition’ but of ‘symbiosis’ where people can live together. JA Group advocates “the creating of a century of symbiosis” which aims to realize sustainable economy and development of balanced society, where the relationship between urban and rural areas, between business firms, organizations and people, and between states will be such that they will mutually recognize and benefit from each other.
JA Group is engaged itself in “3 Entities symbiosis Campaign,” involving consumers, the next generation and Asia. Also, JA Group, at its 23rd JA national congress in October 2003, adopted and is putting into practice the following four priority points of implementation to “Create a Century of ‘Agriculture’ and Symbiosis’.”
＜Priority Points of Implementation＞
1 The supplying of agricultural products which are safe to eat with peace of mind, and development of area agriculture;
2 The reforming of the economic businesses of marketing and supplying to better respond to members’ expectations;
3 The strengthening of undertakings for sound and higher level business management;
4 The expanding of JA’s organizational base and the reinvigorating of local communities through strengthened cooperative activities. |
Key word: JA national congress
The national congress is convened with the purpose to determine the common will of JA Group and to publicize it both within and outside of the movement. It is convened by JA-ZENCHU every once in three years.
