JAs' Marketing Turnover of Farm Products
JAs' marketing turnover of farm products has been sluggish and declining mostly due to the progress of import liberalization and deregulation of agricultural products as well as to stagnant market prices of such commodities. The amount of these turnovers in the fiscal year 2002 was 4,730 billion yen.
Major commodities marketed in JAsf marketing business were rice (1,140 billion yen), followed by vegetables (1,250 billion yen) and fruits (480 billion yen).
During recent years, consumers have become more safety conscious about agricultural and livestock products they eat. In order to respond to such voices of consumers, JA Group, as a whole, has striving to produce and ship such domestically-produced agricultural and livestock products as are safe to eat with peace of mind and can be trusted as such by consumers, by taking safety ensuring measures including book keeping of production history and through promotion of communications with consumers.
