JAs' Joint-use Facilities Serving for Their Members
JAs operate various facilities to be jointly used by members for marketing of their farm products as well as for their better living activities. JAs establish these facilities, which individual members cannot own, with a view to assisting members and their families in promoting their efficient farm production and improvement of their living standards.
Let us see an example of vegetables. Vegetables are harvested by growers and are brought to shipping depot of JA, where people with specialist skills such as JA staff sort and put the produce in boxes according to grade at joint grading plant. When necessary, the produce are kept in chilling warehouse so they remain still fresh when shipped to markets and shops at a later point in time.
JAs' joint-use facilities for improving members' living standards have been greatly patronized also by other residents particularly in rural communities, where few private companies provide such services to the community people.
